Frequently Asked Questions

What is the temperament of the ragdoll?

Ragdolls are a beautiful breed of cat. They are known to be laid back, relaxed, docile cats that flop when held and lay on their backs. They love to be brushed, petted and enjoy belly rubs too.

They are curious and love being around people and following you around the house!

Are you a registered breeder?

Yes, we are a registered ragdoll cat breeder with the Queensland Feline Association (QFA) and our member number is 1423.

Are your Queens DNA tested?

Yes, our Queen Gypsy has been DNA tested and she is free from hereditary HCM (Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy) and PKD (Polycystic Kidney Disease).

Strawberry Kisses is clear from hereditary HCM and PKD by parentage.

Do your kittens come with pedigree papers?

Yes, all of our kittens come with pedigree papers.

How are the kittens raised?

They are born and raised inside our home with constant human interaction from adults and young children with all of life's daily sounds and activities, from children playing to noisy vacuum cleaners.

Is it better to have a male or female ragdoll?

You will receive a lot of differing opinions on this, however, it can come down to the cat's own personality, much like humans. But both can equally show the traits that are desirable in ragdolls.

Generally males will end up larger than females.

I have allergies, are ragdoll cats hypoallergenic?

They are not hypoallergenic, although it is believed that because ragdolls do not have an undercoat, they are less likely to trigger allergies caused by dander.

How much grooming does a ragdoll cat need?

Ragdoll coats are easy to maintain, as they are not as prone to matting as other long-haired cats.

We recommend brushing your ragdoll about once a week.

Can ragdolls be harness trained?

Yes! Ragdolls love going for walks and don't mind wearing a harness. We recommend starting your kitten on a harness not long after you've brought them home.

I have never owned a cat before, what do I need to buy for my kitten?

You will receive a kitten pack from us when you pick up your kitten. The pack will have litter, wet food and dry food which the kitten has been raised on, a blanket with their Mama's scent, a bag of treats, a few toys and a kitten guide.

When you first bring your kitten home, we recommend you have food and water bowls, a cat grooming brush, a litter tray, a poop scoop, poop bags, a cat bed, a sturdy cat scratcher and a cat carrier.

Once you have chosen your kitten, we can give you a list of suggested items to buy :)

Can I join the waiting list?

Unfortunately, we are not adding any more people to the waiting list at this point in time as it has been temporarily closed.

The waiting list is now closed, but I am already on the list, what happens now?

Anyone who is already on our waiting list will still be contacted and receive updates on future litters.
